1. The instructions provided in the loom manual for casting on are the same for both flat knitting and knitting in the round (when you make a tube). These instructions are listed under the heading of SINGLE KNITTING.
2. Cowl is worked as a flat piece following instructions for SINGLE KNITTING, then seamed to make a tube.
3. Loom is configured into an oval shape to provide stability while knitting.
Insert 34 large pegs into every third hole (so, cast onto one peg, leave 2 empty pegs, cast onto next peg) (so insert one peg, leave the next 2 holes on the loom empty, then insert one peg into the next hole) anywhere along on loom - 34 working pegs placed.
COWL
Following loom manual directions for knitting in the round SINGLE KNITTING, cast onto all working pegs. Row 1: Purl. Row 2: Knit.
6 stitches = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern.
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO THIS PROJECT.

Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (2) 36-hole pieces and (2) 28-hole semi-circular pieces.
Connect pieces to form an oval as follows: 36-hole piece > 28-hole semi-circular piece > 36-hole piece > 28-hole semi-circle piece.

FINISHING
Thread yarn ends through yarn needle provided with loom, and weave ends into the fabric of the piece.
With yarn threaded into needle provided with loom, sew ends of piece together (like a tube) to make Cowl.
